The HRR (Hutchinson-Rice-Rosengren) stress and strain singularity appearing near the crack tip, the J-integral as a measure of energy release rate, the path-independence of the J-integral are presented. Path-independent integrals are demonstrated as an extension of the J-integral. Several methods for evaluating the J integral are shown.
