『第七』は1629 年脱稿が定説とされるが、これは原稿を見直した年で、執筆は1607 年には始まり、21 年以降も書き継がれた。また「史的回顧」の原案は『日記』や『第七』より前に作成され、1609 年に『日記』に組み込まれた。最初期の「史的回顧」や『日記』はアステカの都テノチティトランの視点からの歴史であるが、これは参照できた資料の性質による。14 歳で都に出たチマルパインは写字生をしながら、周囲にあったキリスト教関係の書物やテノチティトランの歴史書から知識を身につけたからである。
 1606 年、郷土史家だった父が亡くなると、チマルパインはチャルコ地方の歴史資料を集め、写本を取り始める。1611 年までに得た郷土史資料を読み、彼の歴史観にも変化が現れる。彼の旧来の歴史観は、天地創造から1608 年までの歴史年表である「史的回顧」に代表される、キリスト教的普遍史とアステカ中心の歴史であった。そこに郷土チャルコの視点も取り入れ、かつ単なる郷土史の枠に留まらない視野の広い歴史へ変わろうとする。「史的回顧」がその転換軸の始点とすれば、『日記』の1613 年はもう1 つの節目である。この年、自らに「ドン」という敬称をつけた記名記事が4 本ある。これは郷土史研究を経て、自分自身を見る目が変わった表れである。
 Here we try to clarify the writing sequence of Chimalpahin’s main works, such as Historical Retrospect (HR, from now on), Diary & Relacions Historicas, by comparing the latest dates, reference materials & common events treated in them.
 Now we believe Chimalpahin began to write his 7th Relacion in 1607 and not in 1629 and HR is his first work, even before Diary and the 7th. His first works HR and Diary are Aztec history from Tenochtitlan’s point of view, because Chimalpahin was educated in Mexico City far from Chalco, his birthplace which he had left at 14. But in 1606, when his father, keeper of local history, died, he began to collect and copy historical documents of Chalco. Owing to these documents his views oe himself and history changed. We find a turning point in HR, his own chronological table of world history and the beginning of his historical research. There is another watershed in his Diary ; 4 articles in 1613 signed by don Domingo Chimalpahin, who had never referred to himself using that honorific title before.
 We see the change in his historical writing, from Christian universal history and Aztec history, represented by HR and Diary, to history with plural points of view including that of his home town.},
