In each film, they internalize various aspects of samurai-ness but they avoid turning themselves completely into samurai. The portrayals of non-Japanese samurai, however, are different between 2000s and 2010s. The cause brought the difference is examined with the changing background of US diplomacy, especially military and economic affairs in world politics.
