To collect samples of the equivalent of but and Japanese counterparts, I use Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and its Japanese translation.\nBut is used to connect leading and subsequent contents in two ways: in a sentence and at the beginning of an independent sentence. In Japanese translations, the but at the beginning of a sentence is usually corresponded to a conjunction such as shikashi, demo and tokoroga, and the but in a sentence is a conjunctive particle such as ga, kedo and noni. However, it has been found that even in the latter case, it may be translated with conjunctions. Especially in conversation, it is often translated with a conjunction.\nIn this paper, I will make an attempt to explain why but in a sentence is translated as a Japanese conjunction from the several viewpoints: sentence structure before and after but, quality and quantity of information before and after but, informativeness (whether it is new or old information) and clarity of logical relationship.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"2758-139X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_10002_text_24":{"attribute_name":"記事種別","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"論文"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"西川, 眞由美"},{"creatorName":"ニシカワ, マユミ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nishikawa, Mayumi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-03-02"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"2023_000_01_005l_nishikawa.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"379.4 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","license_note":"Copyright(c)2023 by Setsunan University","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"日英2言語の逆接のつなぎ語に関する一考察 ―butと日本語の訳語の対応について―","url":"https://setsunan.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1500/files/2023_000_01_005l_nishikawa.pdf"},"version_id":"9237efec-cf37-492f-ad98-6cf952ae58f9"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"日英2言語の逆接のつなぎ語に関する一考察―butと日本語の訳語の対応について―","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"日英2言語の逆接のつなぎ語に関する一考察―butと日本語の訳語の対応について―"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"14","path":["257"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2023-03-02"},"publish_date":"2023-03-02","publish_status":"0","recid":"1500","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["日英2言語の逆接のつなぎ語に関する一考察―butと日本語の訳語の対応について―"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-19T11:50:11.923859+00:00"}
