The first earthquake on 14 April registered a magnitude of 6.5 and the main earthquake on 16 April registered a magnitude of 7.3. Kumamoto has registered 265 earthquakes with a magnitude more than 3.5. This paper describes whether the improved disaster countermeasures in Japan were helpful to the victims of the Kumamoto Earthquake.
